Does ATP provide energy by releasing its proton to create a gradient flow?

No, although the opposite is how ATP is typically formed in the electron transport chain. ATP's energy is stored in its highly unstable chain of negatively charged phosphate groups packed next to each other. When the third phosphate group is cleaved from the molecule, it releases potential energy. This, tiny grhopper, is how ATP provides energy.
