Is the melon head legend real?

I was in SHELTON CT. last night and we took a road called FARM MILL? MILL FARM? it connected shelton to monroe. and the legend of melon heads say that people come from the woods and throw stuff at your car and eat you. and bring your bodies back to the family in the woods. im not sure if its true untill last night. we had are high beams on and saw a man with a huge head. im not joking. and small body humped back. i really am scared to ever EVER go down that road again does ANYONE know anything about these melon heads? i always thought it was a myth untill last night. please help.
