Does the Supreme Court have the authority to rule a part of a state constitution uconstitutional?

For example, if a state constitution were to ban gay marriage, could the Supreme Court rule that part of a state constitution unconstitional under the U.S. Constitution and have it repealed? Can they rule a part of the U.S. Constitution unconstitutional and remove it?
