Some Idiot Contractors are screwing new drywall over horsehair plaster.?

Is this a bad idea? I'm pretty sure it is. In fact I'm almost 100 percent sure but I have to ask. Will the drywall fall off? There is water damage to the walls too and that's their way of covering it up. They say there is no mold but I'm skeptical. Idiots.
