I bought a used car from a dealership for $3000 and it broke down on the drive home. Do I have any rights?

I live around the corner from the dealership I purchased the car from. I test drove the car first and it drove fine. As soon as I drove it off the lot and put gas in the car, it kept shutting off. I took it back to the shop (1 hour later,the same day) and they said they would fix it, or they would let me pick out a different car. It's 5 days later, and they can't fix it. The only cars on the lot to choose from are raggedy cars! 94 Rodeo with 144,000 miles, with an engine knock and a bum tire, and no air! for $3000! I really want to get my money back, but the guy won't give it to me.
